BU accepts results for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) as evidence of English proficiency.* Students who are most competitive for admission will have a composite score of at least 90-100 and minimum scores of 20 in each section. If your first language is not English, you must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or the Duolingo English Test (DET).BU accepts results for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). A total/overall score of 7 or higher will also satisfy BU’s English Language proficiency requirement for all programs.
